18 November 2023 Competition and Partnership
All creatures on the earth need to compete with each other for food and other things they need. Some creatures get what they need to live most effectively by working with other members of the same species. Humans are one of these. The need to both compete with each other and to work together is a central issue for humans. Another arises from the fact that we have become a very successful species consuming directly or indirectly most of the resources of our planet. There is widespread evidence that what we want from it is rapidly exhausting its capacity to supply it. In fact things that we can provide for ourselves are increasingly being done by machines and there is a fear that as they become more sophisticated we will not be able to control them properly ourselves.
It would seem that if the competition/collaboration issue could be resolved it would be possible to constrain damage to our environment and limit danger of rogue machines
17 November 2023. Tit for More Tat
Over many 100s of years one group of people; The Europeans; was extremely unpleasant to another group of people; The Jews. This reached appalling levels in the 1930s and early 1940s when the Nazis organised the wholesale and cruel massacre of the Jews. Christians and Jews in the USA and Europe sought a permanent homeland for the Jews were they would be safe from persecution. Palestine, governed by the British under a mandate from the League of Nations was chosen for this.
